At the heart of every saree lies a story. But at the heart of Maggada Mane lies something deeper—a weaver, an artisan, a craftsperson whose hands bring stories to life, thread by thread. More than a brand, Maggada Mane is a mission. A movement to empower traditional artisans and preserve the age-old heritage of Indian handlooms.
The People Behind the Patterns
In 2015, the Kellatty family from the Devanaga community looked around and saw something painful—generations of weavers struggling, their looms falling silent, their artistry forgotten. These were the same artisans who once carried the pride of Indian craftsmanship, now grappling with unemployment and neglect in a world racing toward machine-made fashion.
That’s when Maggada Mane was born—not as a business idea, but as a calling. “Magga” means loom, “Mane” means home. It was meant to be a place where the loom returned to the heart of life—a space where weaving could be reborn, respected, and celebrated again.
Dignity Through Design
At Maggada Mane, the weaver is never an afterthought—they are the soul of the saree. Every saree we design starts with a conversation—with the weavers, with their traditions, with their techniques. We work directly with artisan clusters, removing middlemen who often exploit and undervalue their craft.
We ensure fair wages, safe working environments, flexible work timings, and access to better tools and training. Our goal is simple: to restore dignity and pride to the weaving profession. When a weaver signs their name on a saree’s label, we want it to be with pride.
Heritage That Lives, Breathes, and Evolves
Heritage is not something to be kept in museums. It should live, breathe, evolve—and be worn. We draw inspiration from traditional weaves like Chanderi, Tussar, Mysore Silk, Banaras, and Pochampally, preserving their techniques while gently reimagining them for today’s wearer.
We innovate with washable silks, breathable textures, and contemporary designs so that these age-old weaves fit seamlessly into modern wardrobes. This balance of authenticity and adaptability is what makes our heritage relevant today.
Women Empowering Women
Many of our artisans are women, working from their homes, balancing household duties with loom work. By training and employing them, we are not just preserving craft—we are promoting financial independence, confidence, and community leadership among rural women.
And on the other side, the women who wear our sarees—educated, empowered, and aware—are choosing consciously. They aren’t just making a style statement; they’re making a social one. They are saying, “I support real people. I support heritage. I support handmade.”
More Than Fashion—A Movement
Maggada Mane is not about trends. It’s about timelessness. We are not just in the business of selling sarees—we are in the business of storytelling, sustainability, and social change.
We dream of a world where no artisan has to give up weaving to survive. Where looms return to life in every home. Where children grow up watching their parents work with pride and creativity. Where wearing a saree becomes a form of activism—a conscious choice to support culture and community.
Transparent. Thoughtful. True.
Our values—Parampare (Heritage), Parishuddhathe (Authenticity), Paradarshakathe (Transparency)—guide everything we do. From our pricing to our packaging, from our artisan relationships to our customer conversations, we are committed to doing business with integrity.
We share the stories of our weavers, the origin of our materials, and the process behind each piece—because we believe you have the right to know what you wear, and whom it supports.
The Future We’re Weaving Together
Every saree you buy from Maggada Mane helps keep a loom running. Helps a child go to school. Helps a grandmother pass on her skill to the next generation. Helps heritage stay alive—not in textbooks, but in the folds of something worn, cherished, and passed on.
This is not the end of our story. It’s only the beginning.
We invite you to be a part of it.
Wear a Maggada Mane saree—not just for its beauty, but for its purpose. Because behind every thread is a human story. And together, we’re weaving a better future.
